Buford Leon McDaniel, 82, Bunker Hill, made his final motor home trip in his journey of life, at 9:50p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, at his residence. He said his final goodbyes surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Born Sept. 4, 1925, in Central City, Ky., he was the son of Loney and Pearl (Hudson) McDaniel. On May 28, 1946, he married Mary Florence Bishop in Louisville, Ky.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific Campaign and was a life member of the VFW. After the service, he engaged in a career in the plumbing and heating trades. Early on he knew he was a true entrepreneur and in 1968 founded Quality Plumbing and Heating of Bunker Hill Inc. Through his hard work, he created a business that has flourished for 39 years and is currently managed by his children. His children’s success in the business was one of his most cherished legacies.
He loved to travel in a motor home and after retiring he and Mary took off on the adventure of their lives and visited the 48 continental United States.
Buford was a 55-year member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 440, the Miami Masonic Crescent Lodge 280, the Scottish Rite of Indianapolis, and the Murat Shriners. He was also a past board member of the Mechanical Contractors Association of Indiana.
Survivors include his loving spouse, Mary. They were married 61 years. He is also survived by his four children, Jerry McDaniel and wife Colleen, Bunker Hill, Brenda Carson and husband Bruce, Peru, Robert McDaniel and wife Cheryl, Greentown, Allen McDaniel, Kokomo; 12 grandchildren, Kristi Rabe, Bryan McDaniel, Joe Rosinski, Jesse Carson, Megan Rosinski, Erin McDaniel, Alicia Maggart, Ashleigh McDaniel, Jody Carson, Michael McDaniel, Austen McDaniel and Arek McDaniel; and four great-grandchildren, Savanah McDaniel, Kinsey McDaniel, Derek Rabe and Bailey Carson.
